Need to see a list of Stone County’s Most Wanted? How about information about the county jail? To learn about these things and how to undertake a Stone County arrest warrant search, check out the sheriff’s website, http://stonecountysheriff.com/index.php. Under the site’s FAQ page, there is a wealth of information regarding police reports, criminal background checks, and warrants.

Arrest warrants are a part of just about every criminal case. The Stone County, Arkansas Sheriff’s Office serves many warrants but also has outstanding warrants on file. These outstanding or active warrants are documents issued by the courts based upon probable cause to order the arrest of an individual in connection with a crime. While the sheriff’s department has a duty to execute Stone County arrest warrants, if an individual contacts them regarding an outstanding warrant with their name on it, the sheriff states that they will attempt to work with the individual to resolve the situation.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Stone County Sheriff’s office handles inquiries into criminal acts in the county and coordinates with other agencies to investigate various crimes. In Stone County, from 2002 through 2008, more than 330 crimes were reported. Of those, almost 20 were classified as violent crimes. Along with making arrests, the CID also manages any evidence and prepares the paperwork, including affidavits (sworn statements by witnesses), for obtaining arrest warrants.

The sheriff also provides criminal background check information, but only that data is made available under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act. The information is somewhat limited and includes things such as:

  • Sheriff’s Incident/Offense Reports
  • Accident Reports
  • Jail Booking Records
  • Warrant Records
  • Citations.

The sheriff will NOT release information regarding ongoing cases and juvenile matters. More information may be available through the Arkansas State Police Identification Bureau in Little Rock, but access to the information in their possession is also limited.

So, the best place to start a warrant search and find information on arrest records in Stone County is the Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office address is: P.O. Drawer 1317, 1009 Sheriffs Drive, Mountain View, AR 72560.
